"Riding Through This World All Alone"

Charlie Hunnam as Jax Teller in Sons of Anarchy.
Ok, I have to put my teeny bopper hat on for just a minute (be glad I haven't posted about N'Sync...yet).  Let me just say I love Sons of Anarchy. It is definitely a guilty bliss of mine. It's violent, about criminals, paints the government and authorities in a bad light, but I still love it. I blame the ever beautiful Charlie Hunnam. The third season started last week and it has been the highlight of my Tuesdays.  And I cannot wait to see what happens. If you can past all the "bad" stuff it's worth watching.  If you want to catch up you can get Sons of Anarchy: Season One and Sons of Anarchy: Season Two on Amazon. Or check out the  Official Website.

Charlie Hunnam in Nicholas Nickleby

If motorcycles and guns aren't your cup of tea, but you still want to share in the Charlie Hunnam love. Nicholas Nickleby is a good choice. It has Anne Hathaway in it as well. I don't know why we didn't read it in my English Lit class instead of Great Expectations. I think I would have cursed Charles Dickens less.

A Case of the Mean Reds

One of my absolutely favorite movies is Breakfast at Tiffany's. I spent a summer at Columbia in high school and I went and had breakfast at Tiffany's dressed ala Holly Golightly. Maybe I'll scan it soon and share.  I love everything about the movie: the characters, the story, the style, and the message. My favorite quote from the whole thing is at the end when Paul gets out of the cab and it's raining and he says:

"You know what's wrong with you, Miss Whoever-you-are? You're chicken, you've got no guts. You're afraid to stick out your chin and say, "Okay, life's a fact, people do fall in love, people do belong to each other, because that's the only chance anybody's got for real happiness." You call yourself a free spirit, a "wild thing," and you're terrified somebody's gonna stick you in a cage. Well baby, you're already in that cage. You built it yourself. And it's not bounded in the west by Tulip, Texas, or in the east by Somali-land. It's wherever you go. Because no matter where you run, you just end up running into yourself."

When I'm having a case of the mean reds, since there isn't a Tiffany's near by I watch Breakfast at Tiffany's or sometimes I'll go to a museum.  What do you do when you've got a case of the mean reds?

Dress Code: Fall

If you haven't been able to tell already. Fall is my favorite season. One thing I love is dressing for Fall weather and events. Here are some of my favorite Fall dress codes.

A fun little number for football games other than just the team t-shirt. In Crimson and Cream of course!

The usual guy game day attire. A classic you might say.

Something for class other than Nike shorts.

Rainy days are so much more fun with bright accessories and the right frizz control.

Connecticut and Etiquette

Katherine Hepburn

Oh, how I love Katherine Hepburn. Such an amazing actress and a style icon.  And a Connecticut native! She was born in Hartford and later in life actually lived in Old Saybrook where my grandparents lived.  And yes, sadly, my family were annoying fans that would drive by her house. We obviously never stopped or anything just a casual drive by.(Perhaps my etiquette section should be on privacy...)

Old Saybrook has honored Hepburn with The Katherine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center aka The Kate.  There are various events that The Kate hosts such as film screenings, concerts, and even live simulcasts of the former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. I have never been to The Kate, but it is going to be a stop on my next visit to Connecticut for sure.

Classroom Etiquette

These are a few things that I just think are unacceptable when it comes to how to behave in a classroom be it high school, college or work training.
  • Cell phones-  If you get a call before class starts and you are already sitting in your seat you one of two options. First, you could answer quickly and say "My class is about to start. I'll call you when it's over." hang up and be done.  Or if you need to talk for an emergency etc you leave the room find a semi-private place to talk. Do not sit and have an entire conversation in such close proximity to others and by all means DO NOT continue talking when the professor has arrived and is starting class.
  • Personal Grooming-  It's best done at home or in the bathroom.  This includes (cringe) cleaning your fingernails with the tip of a mechanical pencil, paper clip or other office supply. Get yourself some clippers and go to the bathroom. Nothing is more disgusting than hearing the snip, snip, snip of fingernail clippers in places not meant for such an activity.
  • Public Drunkenness- It is never ok to attend class drunk or hungover.  If not out of embarrassment for yourself (trust me no one thinks it's cool) then at least don't in consideration of your classmates.  No one wants to sit next to someone who reeks of alcohol or keeps passing out on their desk drooling. Get your stuff together. You know when you have class, so plan your extracurricular activities around them.

Fall Leaves!

I just adore fall! I love those first few mornings when you can start to feel a chill in the air, going to football games on the weekends, and all the holidays that come with it. Of course, I also love when the leaves change color.  When I was in Pier 1 this weekend I came across the cutest thing.

They are the Maple Leaf Mini Reed Diffusers the leaves/green one is my favorite. And what is so cute about it is that the liquid in the leaf starts off as red or green, but when you put in the reeds it changes to brown. Like a fall leaf. Precious.

I've been tagged!

So, while I've been anxiously studying for the LSAT (33 days!) I decided to take a break and look at my very abandoned blog.  I saw that I was tagged and asked some questions by Clary at Sunshine, Cupcakes, and Dresses so this presented the perfect way to take a break/ procrastinate.

1. If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be?
Robert Pattinson. So, I could make him shower and wash his clothes.
2. What would you call yourself if you could choose your own name?
Gigi. This is because Gigi isn't my real name, so I have chosen to go by a different name.
3. Whats the worst/most embarrassing CD/Album you've ever owned and do you still have it?
This would probably be the soundtrack to Disney's Pocahontas.   Sadly, I don't have it anymore, but I wish I did! I used to stand on my bed and sing along with it. It was very dramatic.
4. If you could have any animal/creature, What would be your ultimate pet be?
This is a tricky one because I'm not a huge fan of animals.  I do really love gorillas, so maybe if I could adopt one at a zoo or something.  I wouldn't want to have to you know... take care of it.
5. What is your favorite thing about the fall?
There are way too many things to just pick one. I love college football (boomer sooner!), being able to get in my car without burning myself, and wearing sweaters.
6. What do you want to splurge on?
I would love to splurge on Curb Your Enthusiasm DVDs. I have season one, but I want all of them. Larry David= me crying I'm laughing so hard.
7. What is your favorite food?
Anything with avocados.  I like to eat them just plain with salt. Yum.
8. What was the last movie that really moved/disturbed/thrilled you and why?
Well, I recently watched Casablanca and I just love it so much.  I think it is very moving at the end when Rick lets Ilsa go because it will be better for the greater good. It is just so selfless and beautiful. I love it.

Yay for being tagged! We'll see how much I can update in the next few weeks with my test coming up. Hopefully, I'll be able to again soon.
